Standard fish and chips spot but a little on the pricier side (you can find the same thing cheaper with the same quality elsewhere). The restaurant has a retro feel to it and plays throwback songs. It's great that they stay open a little later than others so you can grab some food in the late evening. Takeaway prices are cheaper than dine in. Their tartar sauce is amazing. Their fries can be crisper.

Don't bother ordering the calamari. We were expecting to get a plate to share, but it only came with 5 pieces. Basically we paid 1£ for each piece of calamari.

Customer service was good. I was able to flag down a waiter promptly and order. Cooking time took a while and our orders got mixed up with another table's so our food actually went to theirs by accident. The waiter caught his mistake and asked the kitchen to refire our order immediately.

    Very impressed!
Service: 5/5 fast service, smily and friendly staff.
Ambiance: 5/5 nice diner feel, nice music.
Food: 4/5 i ordered the regular portion and it's huge, which is a great thing. Mushy peas were very tasty, I'm not English but they were good. A porition of peas is probably ok for 2 people to share. The fish is nice and crispy on the outside, the batter is nice and tasty. But the fish is a bit dry. Fries were nice but would have appreciated them a bit crispier. Over all nice restaurant, i would recommend.

My wife and I were taken here for the best fish and chips in London by her cousin, a four year London resident, transplanted from Brazil.  This restaurant opened in 2012, on London's east end, and her cousin has been bringing visitors here for the last four years.  There is a sign acknowledging the location was the birthplace of the British rock 'n roll and the music industry in the mid-1950s when it was known as the 2i's coffee bar.  Upon entering, you will see a plethora of 1950s memorabilia.  We were seated immediately into a cozy booth.

This restaurant is owned by Pat "Pop" Newland, who started in the fish and chips business way back in 1952. The menu boldly states, "voted best fish and chips in London".  My wife and I ordered the cod fish and chips (you had your choice of cod or haddock).  We also ordered a half of Camden Hells lager and a kettle of tea.  Our waiter brought our order in about ten minutes.

The fish was well prepared, flaky on the inside and crunchy on the outside.  I wish they would have given two fillets instead of one and that the batter had some flavor.  My chips could have been crispier, they were a bit spongy.  The ambiance, tea, and lager were way above average though.  I really liked the spicy mustard too.

I would have to try other fish and chip restaurants in London to know if they are truly the best.  Overall, I would rate my total experience here as above average.

5 out of 5 for the experience!

I had an 18hr layover in London on a return from Ibiza and this city was probably the most enjoyable portion of the trip.

No stint in London would be complete without partaking in something so iconic! Checking fish and chips off my list was awesome! Especially in this location, right in/near the theaters in central London; SUPER COOL! Loved the interior, the staff were lovely as well.

I'd ordered their fish and chips dinner and I think I was given an option between cod or haddock. The plate was accompanied with tarter sauce and ketchup in the cutest little glass bottles. The chips were AMAZING! The fish left a bit to be desired. My only gripe is that I went too late to try their mushy peas (it was close to closing time when we'd gotten there).

My review is a bit overdue but this is a must, and I'm happy our local friend brought us here.

WOW. When i looked up best fish + chips in London on Yelp, they were not lying!! Such a cute little place tucked away, with the sweetest employees imaginable, the food is made to order and honestly I'll be dreaming of their fish and chips for years to come. Such flavor, perfect breading on the outside of the fish and the fries were scrumptious. Reasonably priced for the amount of food you get! Great service! Cannot say enough good things about this lovely spot.
